Assembly videos are a great way to convey to anyone how to assemble a complex assembly. These are specially useful when the operators literacy or language understanding are lacking. Created with cad models of the actual parts in the actual assembly fixture.
Multiple angles of the same assembly can be created to further show detail and order. Calling out special steps can be added into the video to show items that require attention. Tools can also be added to show the proper fasting steps.
Process Equipment
This station used a wide range of devices which improved throughput, quality and reduced operator fatigue. Torque monitoring system integrated with servo position system and error proof through beam sensors allowed completion of the assembly automatically. A simple fixture in front allowed pre assembly of the components while the machine automatically positioned the nut drivers which extended down and fastened the assembly continuing only if the proper torque is reached.
Assembly Videos
Small stations can alleviate assembly bottlenecks. This station pressed a sensor onto a small electric motor. Once loaded with parts and the door closed, the station would align the the shaft of the sensor to the correct position of motor armature and then push them together. Sensors coupled with a PLC monitored the alignment and proper completion of the assembly.
Money savings is the name of the game. An investment of $20k paid itself back in 3 months. This device saved $1 per part. It bent a straight steel tube into a 6 bend “U” with a cycle time of 1 minute. When complete, the bent tube auto ejected. This allowed the operator to load this machine with a raw tube prior to removing the completed part. Low cost hydraulic cylinders helped keep the cost of construction in check.
